If we start our trek at the top, we can walk along a gradual ascending trail. This trail will take us to an ancient coastal bluff sand dune. The view from the top is truly stunning! There is an incredible amount of landscape down below, not to mention a view of the Santa Monica Bay, inland Santa Monica Mountains, and the northern part of the Malibu Coast. And, if we get a clear day, we can get Catalina Island off in the distance. Then if we follow the trail downward, we will be able to access the beach from below the cliffs. Again, all of these little stops make for great backdrops to your engagement photos.

Speaking of great photo opportunities, if we take the boardwalk, we will end up at a viewing platform, where we can get another view of Point Dume’s amazing rocky coves, cliffs, headlands and the beach.

Point Dume got its name by English explorer George Vancouver back in 1793 after his friend, Father Francisco Dumetz at Mission San Buenaventura.

If time permits and you want to get another beach location into your photo shoot, Zuma Beach is just a mile and a half away to the northwest.
