Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club Wedding | Yannis & Lydia

Working mostly out of Orange County as Professional Photographers, we get some really great opportunities to shoot photography at some of the best wedding venues and engagement locations around. But even better than that is meeting all the really terrific people that we have come across over time. Most of the time we meet with couples who just got engaged and are starting out on their journey together towards marriage. Other times we meet families, students or people at corporations for various photo sessions. But perhaps our favorite part is hearing their stories. We found this to be especially true for Yannis and Lydia. A truly wonderful couple that we had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at the Waverly Chapel in Santa Ana and the reception celebration at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club.

Located in Mission Viejo, the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club is home to spectacular views of rolling hills and hillsides and a lush green fairway. In addition, their wedding garden and reception patio overlooks the Trabuco Creek Reserve, as well as the hills of Rancho Mission Viejo. The scenery at this location truly makes for a great ambiance and are amazing backdrops to your wedding photos. Other than the fact it did not have that Spanish-style look to it, which is something they did not want, it’s no wonder why Lydia and Yannis chose this location; simply beautiful.

You never know where life will take us. What started out as a chance meeting at a college German Club to professing their “I do’s” to each other, it has been a great ride for Lydia and Yannis with so much road to travel ahead of them.

Lydia looked stunning as she walked down the aisle at the Waverly Chapel in her own custom-made wedding dress. The floral arrangements by La Belle Orange Blossom really highlighted the event. Waiting for her at the altar, her groom-to-be Yannis looked dashing in an Oliver Brown suit.

After the ceremony, the reception moved to the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, where in lieu of a DJ, Lydia and Yannis brought in the band, South Coast Swing, and they kept the place jumping all night long. The reception was beautifully decorated and the cake by Heidelberg Pastry Shop was to die for.

All of the details of this really fun golf club wedding venue were captured by the team at Three16 Photography.

We would really like to thank Lydia and Yannis for allowing Three16 Photography to be part of your special day. We wish you many years of love and happiness.

Check out their love story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.

Lydia and Yannis’ Love Story

How did you both meet and who liked who first?

We met at a German Club meeting in college. We both liked each other, but no one said anything about it for weeks.

Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?

We went to get dinner at a diner. We were already eating meals together a lot in the cafeteria, so it wasn’t unusual for us to get dinner together. Lydia was more nervous, because she wanted Yannis to like her outfit.

What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?

We were on a hike in Sequoia and upon reaching the lookout point, Yannis hugged Lydia, got down on one knee, and asked, “Will you be my wife?” Lydia just yelled, “Yannis!!!” about 10 times before saying yes. Then we sat on the lookout for a long time and talked and enjoyed the beauty. It was very intimate because there were no other people on the trail.

As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?

Outfit planning, we both love dressing up and it has been challenging and fun to find traditional wedding attire.

What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?

Getting other people to help us in what we need.

Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?

Because they have good food, and that is important to us. Also, it is not Spanish style-architecture, we were looking for a venue that was not Spanish style.

Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?

Queen Elizabeth and New England Fall.

Where are you going for the honeymoon and why did you choose that destination?

Boston, Massachusetts, as well as Connecticut and Rhode Island. Lydia has never been to Boston, and it is Yannis’ favorite city. Lydia would also like to see the Plymouth Plantation on Thanksgiving.
