Your outfit should reflect you personality.  Maybe you want to dress for an adventure or maybe you want to go formal.  Consider how your attire can fit with your session location.

Some locations can be super crowded.  While a session at the beach, a popular park or Disneyland can be great, it may not be ideal for you.

Do you love nature?  Did you go to a fair on your first date?  While a beautiful garden might be fun for some, maybe it isn't the perfect location for you.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION LOCATION:

discovering orange county engagement locations:

NEWPORT ISLAND

When you hear of Newport Beach, you probably think of the beach itself and the pier. But what about the island? Newport Island Engagement Photos by Three16 Photography brings a touch of Orange County’s coastline to your photos. The Island is an urban area with much to do and see. The area, including Lido Theater, is the perfect location for your photo session.

When having engagement photos done, ask yourself what do you want your photos to represent? Does it tell your story or is it a moment in your dating life with each other?

We love this local area because it is a quaint little area of Newport Beach with a little less people traffic. It has some mom and pop coffee shops, nice restaurants, not too crowded sidewalks, vintage shops and of course, the Lido Theater. If we shoot in this area, we recommend a casual setting as if you were on a date. We can start at the theater and just go for a scroll along the sidewalks with all the shops around us. There are alley ways that are laced with some really great brick work that would make for amazing backdrops in your photos.

If we walk to the west of the theater, we’ll come across Newport Island Park. It has beautiful green grass, lots of plants, an area for the kids to play at, and background scenery such as coastal homes and boats on the river trails. It’s a great place for us to stop and shoot some photos.

If you book a 1-hour session, the island has enough charm to fill that hour up. However, if you opt for a 2-hour session, you can stay on the island or we can plan the second hour at another location nearby. Areas to consider would be Newport Beach Pier, Balboa Island or the Balboa Fun Zone. All great choices and a good mix of Newport urban life and beach life.

So, let’s meet up in Newport Beach Island, grab a cup of coffee, go for a stroll and shoot some fantastic Newport Island engagement photos along the way.
