General questions

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

While we do not deliver every image we shoot, we do deliver every image we deem deliverable. The images we do not find deliverable, are often test shots, duplicates, or simply images that a client may not want to receive. All images that we find deliverable are color corrected and edited.

Does your studio provide videography services?

Yes, we are happy to provide top quality videography services in addition to photography, photo booth, aerial photo and video. To get more information, please Contact Us.

Do you do destination weddings?

Yes, we love destination weddings! We are more than happy to discuss the details of your special day with you, whether it is local here in Southern California or anywhere in the world.

Have you shot at my venue before?

We have shot at many incredible venues, though there are several amazing venues in Southern California that we have not shot at yet. You can find some of the wonderful wedding venues that we have shot at in Orange County and Los Angeles, by clicking here. If you happen to be getting married at a venue that we have not worked at before, we always arrive early enough to perform a thorough walk through of your wedding venue. In addition to arriving early, we always do exceptional online research of all wedding venues, whether we have been there before or not.

Do you provide partial day coverage?

We are always more than happy to accommodate a client’s specific needs. However, our priority is to book clients that wish to have us cover their wedding day in its entirety.

Do you shoot in jpeg, small raw or large raw?

We as a studio shoot in Large Raw to ensure that we can provide the best quality product to our clients and allow them to print the photographs in many different sizes. The reality is, there is a misconception with photography that shooting in Large Raw versus Small Raw or JPEG will produce less quality. The fact is, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Shooting in Large Raw does allow photos to be printed in larger sizes. Though you can still get many great photos printed when the photographer has shot in JPEG or Small Raw. With that said, we do final delivery in high resolution JPEG.

How many weddings have you shot?

Our professional photographers have shot hundreds of weddings, engagements and events. Our lead photographers typically have at least 100 weddings shot under their belt. Our owner, Jerrick has not only photographed many weddings, but worked in the wedding industry for three years at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton, where he worked over 400 weddings during that time. To say that our team knows a thing or two about weddings would certainly be an understatement.

How long have you been in business?

Our photography journey began in 2010 when our owner, Jerrick went to Haiti to assist those impacted by the devastating earthquake. Jerrick was always interested in art and did sculpting and pottery for seven years. While preparing to leave for Haiti someone gave him a digital camera as a gift to use while overseas. During his trip, Jerrick used his camera to document the lives of the Haitian people as they recovered from the disaster. It was from that moment on that Jerrick realized every picture tells a story. After returning to the United States, Jerrick continued capturing photographs as a hobby. Eventually he was asked by some friends in 2012 to photograph their wedding. It was at that time that it was decided to start Three16 Photography. Over the years we have serviced many amazing clients and we look forward to the many years to come.

Do you shoot quinceaneras, debutants, bah mitzvahs or corporate events?

Yes, we as a studio are happy to cater to any of your special event needs. To get more information about pricing options for your special event, please Contact Us.

Does your studio offer other types of photography services?

Yes, we as a studio absolutely love shooting family pictures, newborns, portraits and maternity photos. You can find more information about that here on our website. In addition to family photography, we also do provide corporate and product photography. Please reach out to us to tell us more about your project.

Style and quality questions

What is your philosophy regarding photography?

Here at Three16 photography we believe that your wedding photography should be fun, romantic and timeless. Truly we believe that every moment captured can tell a beautiful story. Our goal is not to simply take pictures and deliver them, but rather to capture an incredible story of a very special moment in your life that you can look back on and truly cherish forever. We seek to capture photos that offer raw genuine emotion and reflect who our clients truly are. We want to capture the smiles, the laughter, the joy and the tears from your wedding day in a way that you can look back on and cherish. Our owner, Jerrick, fell in love with photography while helping the people of Haiti following the terrible earthquake of 2010. With that said, is not only our desire to capture incredible moments but, also to do whatever we can as photographers to help you. More often than no, our clients become friends and that is something truly unique that we value here at Three16 photography.

What is your photography style?

We believe in taking a natural photo journalistic approach that offers photographs that represent reality. Our style can best be described as lifestyle and classic. We love capturing artistic shots as well, but at the end of the day our primary focus is that you can look at your photographs a few months from now, a few years from now or even generations from now and feel that they are truly timeless moments captured.

How does your studio handle dark venue situations and can I see samples?

Every venue is a little different in regards to the specific needs for photography and our set up. We come to every wedding prepared to handle a variety of situations. Our teams are trained to use off camera flash, when needed, for creative or lighting purposes. When working in a dark reception hall or room, we don't see it as a disadvantage, but rather as an opportunity as wedding photographers to be creative by using different flash techniques. Whether you are getting married in a dark reception hall or outside under the stars, we are prepared to capture your special day. If you'd like to see samples of any of our work just let us know.

POST PRODUCTION QUESTIONS

do you touch up all the images on our image download?

Absolutely! All the images that we deliver to our clients are color corrected and formatted for printing. The color correction and basic editing that we do as a studio is included in the cost of your shoot. With that said, extensive editing such as head swapping, dodge and burning, or other in depth Photoshop work is not included as standard editing procedures. For more extensive editing, please discuss it with us so that we can give you an appropriate quote.

what do you mean by "touching up" the photos?

While color correction is included in all of our packages, touching up or retouching, photos is an add-on to your wedding package. To touch up a photo means to remove things such as stray hairs, undesirable objects in the background, extensive photoshop work, dodging and burning, and other similar aspects that we consider to fall under the field of graphic design more than photography. All the photos you see on our site, have only been color corrected and not touched up. Many of our clients are more than happy with the included color corrections to our photos.

do you offer black and white photographs?

Absolutely. If you would like some, or several black and white photographs from your wedding day, please let our team know and we would be happy to do that for you.

WEDDING DAY QUESTIONS

How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding day photos?

Without knowing the details of your wedding day, it can be hard for us to give you a specific recommendation for the amount of hours that you should have for photo and video coverage. On most occasions, our clients will typically book us for 8-10 hours. Usually this is ample time to cover the bride and groom getting ready, ceremony details, family portraits, wedding party photos, romantics with the bride and groom, and the formalities of the reception.

I have downtime between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for that downtime?

What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

Typically, most wedding days do not have much of a downtime. The exception is when there is a major time gap between a morning and evening event or ceremony. In this instance, our couples will usually take advantage of the time for additional pictures of just the bride and groom. If that is not case, and our photographers will not be covering an event with the downtime being less than 4 hours, there is a fee of $250 per hour for idle time. To discuss this further and for more information, please contact our studio directly.

Why do we need to charge for additional coverage?

Each additional hour of coverage requires additional labor for our teams both at the event and in the studio. It is important to note that with each additional hour of photography coverage, clients do receive more photos.

Do you have a backup who will shoot the wedding if you are sick or injured?

While it is unlikely that any of our photographers would become ill enough to not be able to shoot your wedding, you can rest easy because we always have a backup plan in place. If for any reason the lead photographer was unable to keep shooting on your wedding day the second photographer would take over. Also many of our teams bring an intern as well that can always fill in as a second photographer if needed. Additionally one of the benefits of us having multiple teams is that if for any reason we had a photographer unable to make a wedding we can quickly and easily assign another photographer to fill that role.

ENGAGEMENT QUESTIONS

When can we expect to see our photos from our engagement session?

Usually, we deliver photos from your engagement session within 15 business days via an online gallery.

When should we do our engagement session?

Truly, one of the benefits of Southern California is any season can work. More so, it is just a matter of what type of season you would prefer for your engagement session. Most clients typically will choose an opposite season of their wedding for their engagement session. Most summer brides will want to do their engagement session in the fall or winter and visa versa. Even though Southern California typically has amazing weather, it is important to think through what location you have in mind for your engagement session. For example, it can get quite cold and windy at the beach in the winter. In order to make the most use of your engagement pictures, we strongly suggest doing your engagement session 6-8 months before your wedding. If you are less than 10 weeks away from your wedding, we do not recommend an engagement session.

Can we schedule our engagement session for the weekend?

Typically, we discourage our clients from scheduling weekend engagement sessions. The reasoning for this is because many locations that our clients desire to go to are often over crowded, which can make it difficult to get the pictures you desire. Additionally, due to the nature of our business primarily being wedding photography, our weekend availability for our team is extremely limited. With that said, if a weekday session does not work for you, we can schedule a weekend session, but please note that there will be very limited availability.

How many images do you typically deliver from an engagement session?

Generally, a one-hour engagement session will yield between 25-50 pictures.

From a wedding?

Usually, we deliver an average of 75-100 photos per hour of photography coverage.

I’d like you to Photoshop our name and date into the save-the-dates, is that included in the package pricing?

No, that is not included in the package pricing, but we would happy to prepare a custom quote for you.

When and where can we view our engagement pictures?

Typically, we deliver from your engagement session within 15 business days via an online gallery.

When and where can we view our wedding pictures?

Usually, we deliver from your wedding photos within 12-15 weeks via an online gallery.

IMAGE DOWNLOAD QUESTIONS AND LEGAL QUESTIONS

What size can we print our photos up to with our full resolution images?

The full resolution images we deliver to you are quite large in size because of all the data they hold. Due to the professional quality of our gear and our print lab, we are able to print photos of many different sizes. Ultimately, you can print your photos larger than what might be needed for personal use. Presently, our largest print that has been ordered has been a 40x60. Though, most of our clients typically order prints in the sizes of 4x6, 8x10, 16x20, 20x30 and 30x40. To ensure the best print quality, we strongly encourage you to order your prints through our professional print lab, which can be accessed in your client gallery.

What rights do I have to the digital prints?

Our wedding clients receive personal use rights to all their edited photos. With personal use rights, you are able to share your pictures online, order prints and share them with friends and family. With personal use rights, you are not allowed to resell or distribute your photos for publication without our permission.

Will our photos have watermarks or logos on them?

All final images delivered to paying clients do not have watermarks or logos on them. Though, we do require that you give us credit whenever posting your photos online or whenever they are used in a publication.

Do you provide the RAW files from my engagement session and wedding day?

The final images that are delivered, are delivered in JPEG format so that they can be easily shared and printed. When an image is still in its RAW format, special programs have to be used to view the image and to retain our edits to them. Even more so, an image in RAW format requires significantly more storage space than a JPEG.

Can I have the RAW files from my engagement session and wedding day?

Unless you are a graphic designer there is really no benefit or need for you to have the RAW files. The best way for us to explain it is that a RAW file is similar to a blank canvas. We deliver our final photos in JPEG format because it has the edits we've applied and is the best representation of the art we've created from that blank canvas we started with. With that said, if you would like the RAW files from your engagement session or wedding day we would be happy to provide that for you though there is a cost and you must provide a external hard drive as the files are significantly large. If this is something you are interested in please discuss it with us.

How many images do you deliver on the image download?

Usually, we deliver an average of 75-100 photos per hour of wedding photography.

Do you provide the digital negatives after the shoot?

No, we believe in only providing our clients with images that they would find desirable. Therefore, we do not deliver test shots, duplicates or photos where we feel the client would not appreciate the photograph.

What if I lose my images?

We got you covered. If we shot your wedding within the last year, we have it backed up on both a computer and an online storage device. Our studio does its best to back up and store photos from previous weddings and sessions for at least 5 years from the date of that event. If your wedding or event was within the last year, your online gallery is still active and you can access your photos free of charge. If your wedding or event happened was not within the last year, please contact us for pricing and information on accessing your photos. Though we do our best to backup all of the edited photos from the event, we are not responsible for theft, viruses, fires, equipment failure, alien abductions, the rapture or other unforeseen circumstances.

BUSINESS INSURANCE AND IMAGE BACKUP OPERATIONS

Do you backup our images? How can we ensure that our images won’t be lost?

If we shot your wedding within the last year, we have it backed up on both a computer and an online storage device. Our studio does its best to backup and store photos from previous weddings and sessions for at least 5 years from the date of that event.

What type of camera/equipment do you use?

Yes, absolutely! Any professional wedding vendor you work with for any reason, should have liability insurance. Most wedding venues will require your wedding vendors to have full coverage liability insurance.

MEETING POLICIES

We live out-of-town. Is it possible for our family/friends to meet with you instead?

We would love to meet with you friends or family to discuss our services and allow them to look through our portfolio. Though, it is very important that we connect with you as well. Ideally, we would like to meet with you in person at some point, but if not possible, at the very least we would like to have a Skype call with you. Our studio truly values the importance of getting to know our clients well. Not only does it help with the photography and videography on your wedding day, but we also want to make you apart of the Three16 family.

We’re very busy and won’t be able to meet. What are our other options?

It is totally understandable that your schedule might be too busy to meet at our office in Orange. If that is the case, we would love to jump on the phone with you or converse via email, though there is a significant benefit to meeting in person at our office. Because we want to offer flexibility to our clients, we are always happy to meet any time during the day or evening. Please contact us to let us know when would be the best available time to meet with you.

Do you travel to meet clients?

Unfortunately, we are unable to travel to meet clients. But we would love to meet with you at our studio in Orange County, California. If you would like to schedule a meeting in person or over the phone, please Contact Us.

How do I set up an appointment to meet you in person and see some of your work?

We would love to meet with you and your fiancé. Please Contact Us and our team will arrange a time that works best with your schedule.

PAYMENT AND TAX QUESTIONS

How do I reserve you for my date?

In order to reserve us for your wedding date, we require a 25% reservation fee that is non-refundable and a signed contract. If you are interested in reserving us for your wedding date or would like a custom quote, please contact our studio.

What if we exceed our contracted time for our engagement shoot and/or wedding day coverage?

We understand that things come up and sometimes not everything goes according to plan. With that said, we always want to be as flexible as possible for our clients. If you need to retain our team for additional time beyond what is covered by the contract, you can do so at any time in increments of 30 minutes or one hour. Depending on the services you have hired us for, the cost per hour can vary. Please refer to your client contract for detailed information on the cost of retaining us for additional time.

Is there an additional fee if we pay via credit card?

All of our clients that pay in cash or with check, receive a 4% discount on the cost of the services they booked us for. This discount is reflected in our quote and the prices you see on our site. If you wish to make partial payment or full payment using credit card, please let us know so we can properly update your quote. We happily take all major forms of payment (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Cards).

If we cancel the wedding will we receive our deposit back?

Unfortunately, no deposits can be refunded as we start working from day one after you book us. Additionally, we only accept a certain number of clients for each date throughout the year. In the wedding industry, most of our clients are typically booking us six months to a year in advance. As a studio, we depend on that income we build to operate throughout the year. Nonetheless, we do believe in the importance of looking at each situation case by case.

If we change our wedding to a different date will we be able to use our deposit towards a future date?

Though we cannot make any guarantees, we would have to evaluate each situation to see how we could best assist our client. Depending on how drastica the date changes, it might impact the final cost of the wedding.

Are there travel fees associated with the Engagement Session and/or Wedding Day shoot(s)?

Anything within 100 miles or 90 minutes of travel time from our studio in Orange County, is included in most of our packages. Weddings in Santa Barbara, San Diego, Palm Springs and other Southern Californian cities that are outside our local radius will have minor travel fees to cover the cost of fuel and time. Locations that require significant travel and lodging are handled on an individual basis and can vary depending on the destination of your wedding.

Why do you charge travel fees?

Due to a variety of reasons, when there is a significant distance of travel, we must recoup our cost. Travel fees can cover lodging, airfare, car rentals, cost of labor and other related items to destination weddings.

Do you offer any discounts on weekday weddings, Sunday weddings or weddings during the off season?

We do not offer any discounts based on time of year or day of the week as we put forth the same amount of time and energy towards a wedding regardless of the day or time of year it falls on.

If I pay for my package in cash will we be able to avoid paying sales tax or receive a discount?

We do not offer any discounts based on paying in full ahead of time. We do not require you to pay in full all up front, but certainly that is an option of your choosing. Every wedding requires a significant amount of time and energy. In order to offer you our best, we cannot give a discount.
