Your outfit should reflect you personality.  Maybe you want to dress for an adventure or maybe you want to go formal.  Consider how your attire can fit with your session location.

Some locations can be super crowded.  While a session at the beach, a popular park or Disneyland can be great, it may not be ideal for you.

Do you love nature?  Did you go to a fair on your first date?  While a beautiful garden might be fun for some, maybe it isn't the perfect location for you.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION LOCATION:

discovering southern california engagement locations:

Heaps Peak arboretum

One of our favorite things about photographing engagement photo sessions in Southern California is when we get the opportunity to venture outside of Los Angeles and Orange County and see what the rest of the southland has to offer. Sometimes you come across wonderful locations you never knew existed that are amazing for photographic purposes. One such location is the Heaps Peak Arboretum located in Skyforest, California. Heaps Peak Arboretum engagement photos taken by the team at Three16 Photography will add a new dimension to your session that you will cherish forever.

So, just where is Skyforest? Skyforest is located only three miles southeast of Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino National Forest. In fact, Santa’s Village is just one mile down the road, also in Skyforest.

Heaps Peak Arboretum offers a couple of options that we can choose from. One is to take the Sequoia Hiking Trail. The trail is just under a mile long and mostly flat, so it is a pretty easy loop to take. Along the hike there are about eight or nine different species of trees including Giant Sequoias, which is located near the end of the trail. If we photograph your session between March and October, we can incorporate a great deal of wildflowers that are in full bloom. There are also some bridges, creeks and sitting benches along the path. Everything about this path makes for great backdrops to your engagement photos.

The other option would be the Demonstration Gardens. The Demonstration Gardens is home to about 30 different species of flowers that will sure to enhance your photos. Anywhere from Poppies to Gooseberries, as well as many others, are truly a sight to see. And if the time is right, we can capture (on film of course) an array of butterflies as they are attracted to many of the wild rose bushes with rose hips in the fall season.

If time permits and you want to pay the additional costs, we can take a few more photos at aforementioned Santa’s Village.
