Los Angeles Professional Photographer
As Professional Photographers in Los Angeles, we just adore the couples we meet. Whether it’s to photograph their engagement session, their wedding, various stages of their family life, or any combination of those, each one of them is truly great to work with. But perhaps our favorite part is to hear their stories. This is especially true for Christina and Robert. A truly wonderful couple that we had the pleasure of photographing their beautiful wedding at the Ebell Club of Los Angeles.
Located in the heart of LA, its architectural beauty, exceptional cuisine, and warm, personable service, makes the Ebell Club of Los Angeles a stunning location for both the traditional and unconventional wedding celebration and made for the perfect setting for Christina and Robert’s glamorous navy, gold, gray and white wedding celebration.
On their eight-year anniversary of being together, they had the biggest celebration ever… their WEDDING! Christina was a DAZZLING bride in her Allure Bridal gown. She finished off her elegant look with a moody, blooming bouquet of light blush, deep reds, and greenery! We loved the depth and detail of this stunning bridal bouquet. While Christina got all dolled up alongside her bridal party, Robert suited up in a navy tux. Their wedding party was also dressed to perfection in gray suits and navy ties, and chic navy gowns! Everyone looked absolutely amazing, and the darker colors of the get-ups made for an amazing contrast against the backdrop of The Ebell!
The indoor ceremony seemed as though it was a snapshot straight out of the mansion from Beauty and the Beast. With detailed architecture overhead, and twinkling chandeliers, these two tied the knot in front of a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. It was the perfect place to say, “I do!” Once they sealed their vows with a kiss, it was time for the celebration to begin!
All of the details of this beautifully elegant downtown wedding were captured by the team at Three16 Photography.
We would really like to thank Christina and Robert for allowing Three16 Photography to be part of your special day. We wish you many years of love and happiness.
Check out their love story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.
Christina and Robert’s Love Story
How did you both meet and who liked who first?
We met through a mutual friend whose parents used to let us carpool home from school together. Robert liked me first, but it was hard to tell who liked who as we kept our feelings for each other quiet for years. We loved each other first as friends. We started dating years later and reconnected stronger this time through love and very honest immediate feelings. On our wedding day, we will also celebrate our eight-year anniversary.
Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?
We were both incredibly nervous. We went to dinner at PF Changs. While serving from the family-style portions, Robert accidentally splashed hot sauce into my eyes…twice. It broke the ice as we joked about how I would need to wear goggles on our next date. Immediately realizing how ridiculous this story sounds out loud I feel the need to say we totally redeemed ourselves on the second date. We went to see the Los Angeles Galaxy play. It was magical and they won, so Robert had to go to many more games to keep up the good luck charm that we were together.
What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?
I came home from a long stressful workday and Robert and his cousin, Jesse, the best man, invited me to a quick dinner. In an attempt to be nice and indecisive, I chose Jesse’s favorite craving, Chili’s restaurant. We can laugh about this choice now, but after Robert asked me, I loved to give him a hard time for letting me pick the restaurant as “CHILI’S!”. At some point Jesse excused himself from dinner to “help his mom put up decorations for Halloween.” Robert and I drove home together, and he missed a turn on the way home. I later found out he was just buying time. We pulled up to the house to find Jesse locking up our apartment. I accused him of stopping by our house to poop. He smiled and said goodbye.
I walked into our apartment and noticed a glow from our patio. I walked out to see what light was left on out there. What I found was beautiful scenery of pink roses, candles, and stunning lighting fixtures. I turned around to find Robert beginning the question I seriously never thought he would ask. And I said, “No.” I said “No” about seven times. Not in response to his question, but in response to the disbelief. I eventually realized that I had been spouting the word “No” and he needed the actual answer to his question. So, through all the tears of joy, I managed a head nod and a “yes.” After that, we heard Jesse exclaim with pain from being crouched down behind the bushes behind our patio. This made us all laugh so hard. It was such a silly and wonderful moment. We love to look back on how they conspired to achieve the proposal.
As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
Food tasting!! We enjoyed being in the space where we will be promising forever. And we were completely spoiled with the delicious meal choices.
What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
Financial obstacles. Although it was at times difficult to come up with the funds for specific wedding components, gosh darn it we did it!
Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
We both love the feel of old buildings. We love all the wood elements and the natural elegance space lends to the moment. We also both love air conditioning. Los Angeles will always have a special place in our hearts. If we weren’t celebrating at Disneyland, we were always finding excuses to go out to Los Angeles. It always felt like an adventure heading out to the city and now this will be the greatest adventure of all.
Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?
Our mutual love for the Golden Age of Hollywood, film scores, and colors combinations we both enjoy.
Where are you going for the honeymoon and why did you choose that destination?
I suppose this one is a “N/A” kind of question? We are taking our honeymoon next year. It is still in the works. We are thinking Alaska or back to our favorite place, Scotland. We enjoy cold climates with natural beauty. Robert is also trying to sell me on a cruise because of “all the awesome food.” We’ll see where we end up.
