Rancho Las Lomas Wedding in Silverado, CA

Hugo & Evelyn

Orange County Professional Wedding Photographer

With a history of laughter between Hugo and Evelyn, it’s difficult to write this without laughing. That’s just one way to describe this amazing couple and their lives together. It’s couples like Hugo and Evelyn that make us proud to be Orange County professional photographers. Plus, they had their reception at one of our all-time favorite venues, Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado.

Evelyn and Hugo met in school nine years ago and have been laughing together every day since. They love to joke around with each other (cue the fake Doritos proposal photo) and had loads of fun together all day long! The festivities started at La Purisima Catholic Church in Orange, California. The church was bright and perfectly sunlit for a mid-day wedding ceremony.

As mentioned, after the wedding ceremony, the reception took place in Silverado, California at the gorgeous Spanish-inspired Rancho Las Lomas wedding venue with blue, orange and white architectural details, which perfectly complimented the Hugo’s bold cobalt blue suit from Hugo Boss, as well as his cognac shoes and belt. The blush color from the linens, florals and bridesmaid’s dresses tied beautifully together to create a perfect flow from one aspect of the wedding to the next.

Touches of gold details added a pop of shimmer to the elegant color palette infused with Spanish flair. Evelyn’s stunning sweetheart corset dress was designed by Alberto Rodriguez Couture. With a fitted top, waist that accentuated her silhouette and a flowing train that’s just the right length, there’s no doubt that all eyes were on her! The large floral lace details on her gown paired perfectly with the silver floral headpiece she chose for her hair. The undertones of blush in the dress flawlessly harmonized with the rest of the day’s color palette.

Their mouth-watering, naked cake was adorned with more of the eye-catching flowers and the catered food was simply amazing. To add even more flair to the day, Evelyn and Hugo chose to party all night with the live band.

This fun, elegant, bold and Spanish-inspired wedding was absolutely stunning!

Thank you, Hugo and Evelyn for allowing Three16 Photography to be part of your special day.

Here is their Love Story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.

Q:           How did you both meet and who liked who first?

A:            It was during the fall of 2009 when Evelyn rushed in late to her English 101 class. She quickly sat down, while glancing around to see if anyone noticed her tardiness. Instead, she was the one who noticed a quiet handsome bearded guy sitting to her right (by the way, Hugo wrote that last sentence haha).

One day, Evelyn and Hugo were placed in the same study group where she found that he had already noticed her since she was always late to class. Hugo asked for Evelyn’s number later that day to receive the homework assignments. Evelyn was on cloud nine because she thought this was an excuse for him to talk to her. Little did she know, he really did need the homework assignments.

One evening, Hugo invited Evelyn to coffee after class. Both of them had meetings to attend but, four hours later and two coffee cups each, they lost track of time in conversation and missed their meetings. That is when they both knew there was something special between them.

Q:           Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?

A:            Our first date was in Corona Del Mar. We were both nervous! We went to see the ocean by the rocky area at this beach.

Q:           What’s the proposal story?  Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?

A:            Hugo bought the ring sometime in July and had been trying to plan it even before he bought it. He had so many ideas, but when he planned on proposing, the nerves would take over and he would back out. One day, when speaking to his best man, a light bulb turned on. His best man is a photographer that works with small start-up companies and had been working with one that made cellphone cases. They planned on having Evelyn be the “model” with the cases. They all headed to Corona Del Mar for the “photo shoot” which was also the location of the first date and where Hugo asked Evelyn to be his girlfriend. While there, they had Evelyn posing next to a treasure chest with products. Inside the chest was the engagement ring. When Evelyn sat next to the chest, Hugo helped her open the chest to get “another case”. Instead, he pulled out the engagement ring and popped the question.

We were both very emotional as we had both been waiting for this moment to happen for a long time.

Q:           As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?

A:            What we both enjoyed the most about the wedding process was thinking about our special day and just looking forward to our future together.

Q:           What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?

A:            The hardest part about the planning was fitting all the meetings in our busy schedules.

Q:           Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?

A:            We both chose Rancho Las Lomas because we fell in love with all the greenery and the Spanish-style setting.

Q:           Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?

A:            We both always wanted an outdoor wedding and drew inspiration from the venue itself and of course, Pinterest.

Q:           Where are you going for the honeymoon?  Are you excited and why did you choose that destination?

A:            We are going to Cancun and are extremely excited!! We chose Cancun because we wanted to relax during our honeymoon and just get away from everyday life, but also be able to get out and have some fun.
