One of the best parts of being in Southern California is that you have so much to choose from to have your engagement photos shot at. You have parks, beaches, amusement parks and the mountains. But what if you are looking for something really different for this region of the state? You might want to consider Snow Summit, up near Big Bear. We recommend Snow Summit during the wintertime, which typically runs from late November to mid-December, and if the season remains cold enough, the snow will remain until sometime in March. Although shooting your shots outside the winter season is nice, we will be dealing with a lot more people on the bike trails and the brown foliage that appears to look like they have died off. Late summer is typically when the greenery returns.

A Snow Summit engagement photo session in the winter will give you the unique backgrounds you are searching for. The beautiful snow-covered hills will make for some really amazing photos that you will always cherish. There are not many other locations in Southern California where you can get this sort of photography.

Snow Summit is easily accessible with plenty of parking and we will be approximately two miles from Big Bear Lake, which we recommend as a second location for your photo shoot. Shooting your session in the Snow Summit and Big Bear areas can make for a great date day for the two of you. First, we come up and shoot your shots, and then you have the rest of the time to enjoy the snow, shopping and some really nice restaurants in the area. Personally, we recommend the Oakfire Grill, the Himalayan Restaurant or The Grind & Grill Café. Check for their hours of operation.

The only negative aspect about shooting here in the wintertime is that we will have to stay pretty far off the trails, as people have paid to be on those trails and if we are not careful, we can get hit by a snowboarder. Other than that, Snow Summit is a beautiful location to be at.
