May The Force Be With Them
I really love my job as a wedding photographer!! I recently shot Karina and Ivan’s engagement session and one of my favorite hidden gems here in Orange County. We hopped in my truck and went off-roading up Holy Jim Trail for their Trabuco Canyon engagement session. It’s always a fun adventure and makes for some great pictures.
Karina and Ivan are such a fun couple. They are huge Star Wars fans and wanted to incorporate that into a few pictures. Complete with their Darth Vader mask and lightsabers. Very fun!
Karina and Ivan are getting married this summer in Dana Point and we are really excited to shoot their wedding for them. Enjoy their love story….

Karina’s Perspective….
Q: What do you do for work?
A: I’m a Medical Assistant/ H&M
Q: How did you first meet Ivan and describe to us your thoughts upon first meeting him. Was he goofy, weird, prince charming, etc?
A: I met Ivan at a throwdown show. At first, he was super quiet, but then we became BESTIES!! Then he became my boyfriend/ father of my kids. And now he’s going to be my husband and I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else.
Q: What is something that you find totally cute about Ivan?
A: His beautiful Pocahontas locks and smile. Awwwww.
Q: What’s the proposal story? How did it all unfold and were you surprised?
A: Ivan took me to Hawaii and asked me to marry him. When we stopped at a waterfall (Mona Falls) he told me he was hiding my ring in his old go-pro.
Q: As you plan your wedding, what has this experience been like and what’s your advice to others as they plan their wedding?
A: This experience has been so much fun! From picking out my wedding dress to my bachelorette party!!! I had so much fun with my girls and my mom. Now, this Sunday is my bridal shower!! So excited!! My advice is always to start to plan your wedding at least a whole year before! There are so many little things!!
Q: If Ivan were a superhero, who would he be and why?
A: Hmmmm, I would say half Spiderman – half Flash!!! He’s fast and loves to climb things hahaha
Q: As you have planned your wedding, what’s something new you’ve learned about Ivan?
A: That he never wanted a taco lady. But who doesn’t like tacos!?!!?!?!?!?!?
Ivan’s Perspective….
Q: What do you do for work and what do you enjoy most about it?
A: I work at Get My Point Body Piercing. I enjoy that it’s constantly changing and every day is different. You never know who or what will happen that day. I also enjoy that I can provide for my family by doing something that I love.
Q: Describe Karina in one word. Why did you choose that word?
A: Loving. She enjoys making me and our boys happy. She loves to spoil us. Family is definitely her number one priority.
Q: Tell us about your first date. What did you do and were you nervous?
A: We didn’t have anything planned for our first date we ended up driving to fashion island and had dinner at the Yard House we talked and had drinks. I wasn’t very nervous, Karina has always made me feel like I can be myself.
Q: Was Karina surprised when you proposed? Why did you choose to propose the way you did?
A: She was very surprised…. she had no idea. I wanted to do something that she would never forget.
Q: Looking towards the future, what do you most look forward to doing with Karina?
A: Raising our boys together, taking family vacations, going on adventures and making our family a little bigger.
Q: What is something unique, quirky or special about Karina that you’ve come to admire?
A: She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. We laugh so much about the most random things. She always puts a smile on my face.
Q: How has wedding planning brought you two closer together?
A: We’ve had to work through, and find a balance between, some of our different opinions. Its helped us communicate a bit better and it’s also brought us lots of happiness in planning this very special event in our lives.
