So, you feel you’re ready to propose marriage to that special someone, but want to make it memorable, one that they will cherish forever as part of “your story.” After all, over the years, surveys have shown that many people were a little disappointed with how their partner proposed to them. This isn’t like the old days of getting down on one knee and proposing and that’s it. Now with it being such a life-changing event, they want something that has a lot of thought and purpose put into that moment. We’ve seen quite a few proposals in our time, so as experienced marriage proposal photographers, we here at Three16 Photography offer you 5 Good Marriage Proposal Ideas.
Everybody’s story is a little different. Perhaps you have a distance issue, a time of dating issue or perhaps it’s a budget issue.
That’s why we recommend you do your research into proposal ideas and you’re sure to come up with an idea that suits you both. No one knows your partner better than you do, so make it personal for the two of you. And don’t be afraid to ask for ideas from her family or friends as well.
You only get one shot at making it right, so sit back and breathe and it will come to you. In the meantime, here are some ideas that might help you in the long run.
Recreate Your First Date
The first of the marriage proposal ideas is to take your special someone to the place where it all started by recreating your first date. Go to the same places, have the same lunch or dinner (hopefully they’re still in business), and any other adventures you may have done on that date. But here’s the kicker. By this time, she might be on to you, so after your last stop, take her somewhere you did not go to that night to throw her off. Then at some point while you’re there, ask her if they remember this place from your first date. Hopefully, they should say no. And then you proceed to say something along the lines of, “You may not remember it now, but you’ll remember it for the rest of our lives together” and then get down on one knee and propose. Smooth.

The Scavenger Hunt
Instead of going right into it, create a proposal that is a little drawn out and a fun way at that. Create and send your partner on a Scavenger Hunt. Give them a list of the things to find that ties into your relationship. For example, direct them to the first restaurant that you two ate at and get a menu. If they don’t have one to go, take a photo of what they do have. And continue to do those sorts of things throughout their journey. You can make it a little extra special if you want by working with the restaurant or other locations that when she arrives to collect her item(s), they hand her a note with a love saying from you and/or perhaps a rose. If you do the rose idea, a bouquet is 12 roses, so send her to 11 locations, and then of course, the final destination is you with rose number 12, as well as a ring.
Put It in Print
In the past, if your significant other was an avid reader of the newspaper or certain magazines, you could buy ad space and surprise her that way. But with today’s technology, find someone that would be willing to place your message within their blog. Be sure the blog is a topic you know she’ll read and when it comes out, send her the link. You can include a photo, which is sure to catch their attention, with a brief story of how you met or why you love this person and want to spend the rest of your life with them and of course, in big print, “Will You Marry Me?” While she is reading this, get down on one knee and have the ring box waiting. When she looks up or turns to look at you, it’s go time.

An Inside Job
Pre-arrange with her boss for her to get a couple days off or even a week, and then have your partner ask for a day off from work. The boss then tells them take a couple of days or a week. She will be surprised and not know you were part of it. If granted, take her on a romantic vacation. Have her friends or family members pack her bags so that you can pick it up and off you go to the airport or drive to your destination right away. After arriving, have a special meal ready and propose to them and inform them of all your vacation plans.
An Old-Fashioned Picnic
If you live near a beach or lake, that would be great, but if not, then perhaps a local park. Prepare and set up a beautiful picnic with some of her favorite foods or foods that have meaning to your relationship. Write her a song or a sweet poem. If you want to sing it to her, go for it, but if you feel uneasy about it, find someone that can and have them just stumble across your picnic and perform it, especially if it’s someone she doesn’t know. After all, it’s the meaning that counts. Be sure to include the proposal in the song or poem. Another thought is that if you are at the beach, spell out the, “Will You Marry Me?” with seashells.
Conclusion
Regardless of how you propose, just be sure to make it special for them. Good marriage proposal ideas put into place will go a long way for both of you.
