Red Horse Barn Wedding | Nick & Shevannah

Red Horse Barn Wedding Photography in Huntington Beach Orange County California

| Nick & Shevannah |

I’m often reminded on why I love the field I went into. Perhaps it’s something that happens at my office with my staff or a conversation with another vendor in the industry. But most of the time, it’s the amazing couples that I get a chance to meet and work with. Being an Orange County Wedding Photographer allows me this opportunity quite often, and this past weekend was no exception.

On May 26th, we had the pleasure of photographing a pretty awesome couple, Nicholas and Shevannah at their Red Horse Barn Wedding in Huntington Beach. We work there often and love this venue for its simplicity, friendly staff, and the fact that it’s a nice outdoor venue at an affordable price. In addition, the landscaping is well-kept and includes a charming gazebo flanked by fountains and a garden, which would make for a picture-perfect backdrop as you say your vows. They even have horses that you can include in your shots!

Nicholas and Shevannah actually live in Arizona, but they had booked us over the phone. We finally got to meet them when they came out for their engagement photo session at the Pasadena City Hall and it’s been a great friendship ever since. (Click Here to see their photos and read their Love Story Blog).

On their wedding day, it rained off and on, but that didn’t ruin Nicholas and Shevannah’s big day. There were plenty of laughs and smiles throughout, as both their families were incredibly kind and funny. At times, umbrellas had to open, but that only made this ceremony and reception that much more unique. Besides, its rumored that rain on your wedding day is good luck for the marriage!

As for the ceremony itself, it was a beautiful ceremony with both laughter and tears. One of the sweetest moments of the day was Nicholas watching his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. We always love getting to capture those extra special moments- like when a groom sees his bride for the first time and is hit with all the emotions that have been building, leading up to that moment!

Being from Arizona, both Nicholas and Shevannah love their country lifestyle and that was evident by their venue choice of the Red Horse Barn, Nicholas’ cowboy boots, and the incorporation of the venue’s horses into their photos. Knowing this, you might wonder where they are planning to go for their honeymoon? Where else, Nashville, Tennessee!

Although Shevannah is from Southern California, who would have thought that these two amazing people who worked together in law enforcement, (yes, she used to be his supervisor!) would share their first date at a hamburger joint, and end up getting married at a barn in Huntington Beach, California (which is a beach city more than a country location) on a rainy afternoon to be joined together forever?

Nick and Shevannah, we are so excited for all that’s in store for you two! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your special Red Horse Barn Wedding! We wish you all the best!

Elopements have come a long way from the days of getting married at the local courthouse to the last-minute trip to Las Vegas and maybe getting married by an Elvis impersonator. And although elopements have evolved over the years, myths still linger. Somewhere along the line, eloping got labeled as selfish, secretive, or “less than” […]
