How often have you heard someone say, “2020 has been a crazy year!”? I’m sure it’s been often. Well no different for us in the wedding industry. Being a Los Angeles wedding photographer, we have seen a whole slew of challenges from the different couples we’ve met along the way. Anywhere wedding postponements to relocations of wedding venues to major reductions in the couple’s guest lists, and more. It’s been unreal. But despite it all, the one constant we continue to come across are all the amazing couples. Two people that just want to get married and begin their lives together as husband and wife. Fortunately for Ryan and Berenice, they were able to plan and hold their wedding in this so-called magical year as they came together as one on September 19^th at the beautiful Inn of the Seventh Ray wedding venue.

Located in Topanga, the Inn of the Seventh Ray is home to this amazing running creek along with waterfalls and plenty of trees, all while set back into the canyon. There are multiple areas to consider for your wedding and reception, including three different patio areas and two indoors. Each offers something different to your event. Regardless, of which area you opt for, each one offers beautiful and unique backdrops to really enhance the atmosphere of your wedding and make your wedding photos standout. The Inn of the Seventh Ray was an amazing location for Berenice and Ryan’s wedding.

Thanks to the talents of Megan Burton, Berenice’s hair and makeup were on point as she walked up the aisle in a beautiful wedding dress from Mafalda’s Bridal Shop. Waiting for her at the altar, Ryan stood out in his navy-blue suit from Friar Tux. The reception was a big hit as Life of the Party DJ’s kept the reception hopping throughout the reception, while Three16 Photography provided the Photo Booth. Once again, a truly awesome event for these two wonderful people.

What three things do you admire most about your soon-to-be spouse and why?

Ryan about Berenice: She’s logical, inclusive & clear cut. She picks her path & commits to it, but every plan she makes it always appropriately calculated and ensures nobody is left.

Berenice about Ryan: He’s determined, analytical and thoughtful. He knows where he sees himself/us in the future is determined to get us there.

Describe each other in one word and why did you choose that word?

Ryan about Berenice: Genuine. She never tries to be someone she’s not or bends on her beliefs to cater to others. It gives me reassurance & confidence in our decisions.

Berenice about Ryan: He’s goofy and he knows how to lighten up the mood.

Any advice for other newly engaged couples as they begin to plan their wedding?

Small details won’t matter at the end of the day, prioritizing 2-3 aspects for the day.

Describe your wedding for us. Is there a particular theme? What flowers did you choose? Any special traditions or items you have incorporated into the day?

Intimate, Simple, Outdoorsy & DIY. No particular preference in flowers.

Looking back on planning your wedding, is there anything you would have done differently?

Don’t forget the legal part of the wedding – planning ahead for the wedding license and getting Godfather Deputized.

What’s the plans for the honeymoon?

Due to COVID, we’ll hold off on a traditional honeymoon and instead do a road trip to Lake Tahoe with Kona.
