Hillcrest Park Wedding | Michael & Lissett

If I said it once, I said it a thousand times…. I love shooting wedding photography in little “downtown” areas of cities. There are so many nooks and crannies, atmosphere, and hidden stories that bring character to the shoot. And especially in my hometown of Fullerton located in Orange County, there is nothing like it.

It was my honor to shoot the wedding of a super friendly couple, Lissett and Michael. It was a beautiful ceremony that took place in downtown Fullerton. One of the neat things about some weddings is when the couple has their kids involved. Lissett and Michael’s kids were in their wedding party and that had to be a very special feeling for both the couple and the kids.

Congratulations Lissett and Michael and I hope everyone enjoys their Love Story.

Lissett and Michael’s Love Story

Lissett’s Perspective….

Q:  How did you first meet Michael?

A:  We met through mutual friends; Edgar and Suri. Edgar and Mike were co-workers and Suri is my close friend. Edgar thought we’d make a good pair so he asked Suri for my number to give to Mike, but I refused. Instead, I took Mike’s number and initiated our first conversation that same week.

Q:           Upon first meeting Michael, what were your first thoughts?

A:            Upon receiving the first picture message of Mike, my first thoughts were, “Ooohh, he does look a bit older than me. Kind of looks like a gangster, but not bad looking at all.” And upon first meeting Mike, my first thoughts were, “I think I like older men.”

Q:           Tell us about your first date and what was your favorite moment?

A:            Our first date was at the AMC Theaters in Orange. We went to watch Mirrors on a Thursday night after Mike got out of class at Fullerton College. My favorite and most terrifying moment was when I screamed in the silent theater during the movie.

Q:           What is it about Michael that sets him apart from the rest?

A:            Besides his good looks, intelligence, sense of humor, and $$$ millions, it’s the way he loves me.

Q:           Tell us a goofy or funny story about Michael.

A:            One night, we were getting ready to go out, but we got delayed in doing so because Mike had misplaced his keys. After looking countless amount of times in his room, living room, kitchen (even inside the fridge), truck, and FRONT pockets of the jeans he was wearing, Mike finally found his keys in the BACK pocket of the jeans he was wearing! In his defense, he said he never places his keys there, therefore he didn’t think of looking there.

Q:           How did Michael propose and were you surprised?

A:            Mike proposed Sunday night, March 15, 2015, on the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach. I was completely surprised and was ironically talking about a runaway groom moment before he proposed.

Michael’s Perspective….

Q:           What do you and Lissett do for work?

A:            I am the team leader for the shipping and receiving department for the company I work for.  Lissett is a preschool teacher’s aide.

Q:           Besides your proposal, what would you say was the best date you ever planned for Lissett?

A:            Valentine’s Day. We had dinner at the Orange County Mining Company with a view of the city lights in Orange, CA.

Q:           What is it about Lissett that made you realize you wanted to marry her?

A:            She has a caring heart and her personality is more beautiful than her appearance – if that’s even possible, especially with her smile. She is a great mother and the type of woman every man desires.

Q:           Planning weddings can be stressful, but there are good times as well.  What have you enjoyed most about the planning process and how have you both grown closer together?

A:            I have enjoyed spending more time with her regarding our future and seeing the excitement on her face during the planning.

Q:           Why did you propose the way you did and do you think Lissett knew what you had planned?

A:            I proposed on the pier because I know she likes the beach and the sound of the ocean, and no I don’t think she had any idea that I was going to propose.

Q:           What is your number one tip to couples that are thinking about getting married?

A:            One tip is that communication is very key. They definitely have to be on the same page.
