Newhall Mansion Wedding | Arthur & Dezarae

Orange County Professional Photographer

Being an Orange County Professional Photographer, we love getting outside and experience other venues outside of Orange County. With Orange County and Southern California being such a huge wedding market, there is always a wide array of wedding ceremony and reception venues to choose from. Dezarae and Art’s fun and easy-going personalities shined through every aspect of their wedding in the best ways! Dezarae is from Hawaii, so they incorporated some tropical vibes into the theme for the day, the food for the evening was a BOMB taco buffet and the dance floor was BUMPIN’ with the best music and dance moves all night! The evening ended with a hilarious full-face cake smash and a spontaneous jump in the pool! Talk about a party! And to accomplish all this, they had to find the perfect wedding venue- and they definitely did!

Within the quiet community of Piru, California is the charming and enchanting Newhall Mansion wedding venue. This private gem was originally built in 1890 by the city’s founder as a gift for his wife. After a series of various owners, the luxurious Victorian mansion is now home to a lush green landscape boasting panoramic mountain views, groves of fruitful trees, a sparkling fountain and flourishing gardens. A stroll through this cozy, romantic fairy-tale venue is truly a walk through a serene and elegant paradise. Other magnificent treasures found throughout the property include an enchanting underground man-cave for the groom and his groomsmen and a colorful stained glass window with a view of the mountains, perfect for capturing romantic silhouette portraits.

On a perfectly sunny day in mid-August, Arthur and Dezarae celebrated their wedding day with their closest friends and family at the delightful Newhall Mansion. These two lovebirds truly wanted their big day to be about enjoying time with their guests, and wanted to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere for everyone to feel comfortable and laid back. So laid back that they encourage guests to wear shorts!

They are strong believers that your wedding day should be unique to you! Art and Dez did an amazing job of doing this by creating a cozy and inviting vibe that allowed for their guests to truly let loose and celebrate! Another aspect that made their wedding so special was Newhall’s unique opportunity to rent the venue for the whole weekend! The couple was so excited to spend the weekend laying out and relaxing by the pool with their family and bridal party! The seven charming rooms in the main house were available for their friends and family to stay throughout the weekend as well, which was perfect for Dez’s family who came all the way from Hawaii!

The stunning bride wore a gorgeous lace detailed gown and wore her hair down, and curled to perfection. Her effortless, yet flawless look had heads turning all day long. Arthur awaited his soon-to-be bride in a classic navy suit, while his groomsmen stood by his side. Dressed in light gray suits with black bow ties, along with the bridesmaids dressed in blush pink and turquoise gowns, the whole crew was definitely “squad goals”. The whole bridal party was so much fun, and they were bursting with laughter all day long!

Located on the open back lawn of the mansion, in front of a gorgeous towering tree for the centerpiece of the ceremony, these two exchanged vows and participated in a traditional Hawaiian lei exchange.

We would really like to thank Dezarae and Arthur for allowing Three16 Photography to be part of your special day. We wish you many years of love and happiness.

Check out their love story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.

Dezarae and Arthur’s Love Story

How did you both meet and who liked who first?

We met at The Yardhouse Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Arthur was my bartender and I sat at the bar with my friends. We exchanged numbers and kept in contact. I went in to visit him at his job again, this time I got way too drunk and made a fool of myself, but somehow, Arthur was still interested, haha. The rest is history.

Tell us about your first date.  Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?

Our first unofficial date included two of his friends as we went to a bar. I was completely nervous, but Arthur had his buddies to make him feel more comfortable. Our first official date with just the two of us took place at a sushi restaurant called Takami in downtown LA and it was magical. In the elevator of that building was where we shared my favorite kiss – haha. I wasn’t nervous during that night, but I think he was.

What’s the proposal story?  Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?

I had no idea he was going to propose! It was after a long day of recovering from a night of drinking and we had decided to go out for dinner. During our walk to the restaurant, we stopped at Pasadena City Hall because they had their Christmas tree up and decorated. That is where Arthur proposed. He cried first as I was still in shock. Once we got to the restaurant, it hit me and I cried there.

As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?

We have enjoyed planning out the whole weekend, knowing that we have a pool to lay out at.  Everything is slowly coming together, and we are looking forward to enjoying this weekend with our family and friends.

What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?

The hardest part in planning this wedding is getting an accurate count on guests. Some people did not return their RSVP, even when there was a stamp on it. But it’s okay, we are happy that the important people will be there along with the friends that matter most.

Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?

We chose our venue because we both liked the idea of hanging out with our friends and family for the weekend. My family is from Hawaii, so it was a really cool idea to have them here with us for longer than just the day of. Looking forward to rehearsal dinner and also recovering together the morning after.

Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?

Arthur and I are very simple people. We didn’t need much or feel the need to be too fancy on our wedding day. We wanted it to be very laid back and fun, so we encouraged shorts and rented yard games to give it that “backyard” feel.  We also got catering from a taco truck and are using disposable plates and silverware to make things more comfortable.

Where are you going for the honeymoon?  Are you excited and why did you choose that destination?

Arthur is still finishing school, so we planned a week’s getaway to Glacier National Park in Montana before the semester starts up again. However, next summer we plan on doing a Europe trip to probably Greece, France and Italy. We have yet to plan out the details for that trip. However, we do look forward to hiking and not having cell reception during our time in Montana.
