Orange County Professional Photographer
Being an Orange County Professional Photographer has afforded me the opportunity to photograph at some of the more beautiful wedding venues that the county, let alone the state, has to offer. As time has gone on, I’ve had the chance to meet and be a small part in so many other’s wedding plans and have witnessed their happiness. I couldn’t wait to experience that same feeling. I thought that maybe one day I will meet that person at a wedding that I am photographing, after all, I spend most of my time at weddings. Then, like it was meant to be, while photographing a wedding at the Hilton Waterfront in Huntington Beach, I met my destiny, as she was the Maid of Honor. Oh, that smile!
Little did I know that day, that two and half years later, Josie and I would meet up at the Oak Canyon Nature Center to become husband and wife. Oak Canyon is somewhat hidden as it is nestled into the hills of Anaheim Hills. It sits on 58 acres of trees, plants, hills and walking paths. There is a stage for the ceremony and bench seating, which allows you to decorate the venue as you wish. This rustic ceremony location is open to the public, so it is not unusual to have hikers walk by during your ceremony behind where your guests are seating, or even stop to watch. That is nature at its best. And, although Oak Canyon doesn’t allow for receptions, it is a perfect location for you to exchange your vows.
With the amazing work by Golden Glow Beauty creating glamorous makeup and hair, and an amazing Allure Bridal gown from Mary Me Bridal, Josie was absolutely stunning. The most stunning bride I’ve ever seen. I waited for her at the altar wearing a slate colored suit from Friar Tux, while my groomsmen matched my attire. The bridesmaids wore long light-blue gowns. The following reception took place at the Yorba Linda Community Center where DJ Anthony from Honored Occasions kept the party jumping all night long for all our family and closest friends. Jason’s Catered Events provided unbelievably amazing appetizers and dinners, while Amazing Cake Creations provided a beautiful wedding cake and a wide array of other delectable desserts. One thing you don’t often see at a wedding is a Boba Bar. This favorite drink of mine and Josie’s was provided by Craved Tea House. Floral arrangements by Pink Daffodil really set the scene at the ceremony as well as the reception.
Tala Events did a truly outstanding job coordinating the entire event and everything went off without a hitch, while Emma Lynn Cinema worked to create an amazing video so we can relive the day over and over again.
And of course, I cannot thank my team at Three16 Photography enough for photographing all the details of our beautiful naturesque wedding, as well as manning photo booth at the reception. We truly do appreciate it.
Check out our love story. We hope you enjoy it and their photos.
Josie and Jerrick’s Love Story
How & When did you first meet? Describe your thoughts and how you felt about each other, and tell us, was it love at first sight?
We met in August 2017 at a wedding at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach. I was the Maid of Honor and Jerrick was lead Photographer. When Jerrick saw me, he thought I was very beautiful and would love to get to know me. At the end of the night he went to give me his business card, but to his surprise, I already had one. This made him think I liked him and wanted to get to know him as well. Throughout the event, I watched Jerrick take photos and thought his job looked fun; in fact, I even helped him carry the wedding dress around to find a good photo spot. At the end of the night I took his business card to get more info to possibly assist with other weddings. After the wedding, while we were both at our homes, we became Facebook friends that night and talked for a few hours. Jerrick said to me that he would like to get to know me more and would like to have lunch together. I thought this would be a great opportunity for an interview to see if I would be a good fit to assist weddings with him.
We met for lunch at Maggiano’s in Costa Mesa, and we talked about ourselves. Jerrick shared his testimony, which made me cry. He continued to share his goals for the future and said, “who knows I may find my wife at a wedding… helping me with the wedding dress….” That was the moment I realized that Jerrick was talking about me and that I could be his wife! This was not an interview, but a date! I didn’t know what to say, so I did the awkward laugh. After this lunch, I said I wanted to be just friends, and I friended him about four times for about a month.
What do you both do for work?
As of right now, I love my job working with kids at an elementary school, but my desire would be a stay at home mom. Jerrick, of course, is the owner of Three16 Photography.
GROOM: What was it that first attracted you to your bride-to-be?
Her smile, her gentle kindness and seeing how sweet she was to Cheyenne on the wedding day. I could tell that she was someone that would easily put others before herself and that she loved the Lord. But her smile really caught my attention. It was hard not to admire her.
BRIDE: What was it that first attracted you to your groom-to-be?
I started to like Jerrick when I saw how genuine his heart is and how passionate he is to be the best dad, best husband and best friend he can be. I admire his boldness and perseverance he has on life.
Tell us about your first date. What was going through your mind? Where did you go and what did you do?
I was so excited for our first official date. I enjoyed getting all dressed up. Then he came to the door and handed me a beautiful bouquet of flowers before going to Mastro’s for dinner. After dinner, we went on a ferry ride. Then we got out of the car and talked for a little bit. Jerrick loved going on the ferry as kid, as did I. Then we went across and rode the Ferris Wheel and kissed at the very top of the ride. From there, we went to the beach, took off our shoes and took over a lifeguard tower. That’s when Jerrick poured his heart out and said the sweetest things to me and he told me what he like about me. Then I shared how much I liked him. We were both excited and thrilled. So much so that we changed our Facebook status’ right then. One of my favorite moments is us holding each other near the ocean while under the stars. I was so happy we made the decision to be boyfriend and girlfriend.
What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together and what makes your relationship unique?
We both value relationships with friends and family. We are huge board game (Catan anyone?) lovers; we love being competitive and bringing games to double dates. We also love cultural foods and boba drinks.
Tell us about your proposal story! How and Where did it all unfold? Were you surprised and tell us, who cried first?
I woke up knowing I was going to get proposed to that day. BUT I didn’t know how, but it turned out to be much bigger surprise than I was expecting. I knew he was proposing because it was our second anniversary (September 15, 2017).
Here’s how it happened… I met up with Kiku and Melissa (they work with Jerrick) at a nail salon for Melissa’s Birthday. From there D’vorah and Debbie picked me up and took me to Maggiano’s, where we had our first lunch at to have breakfast. Then from there Anna took me to Lucky Strike (our first bowling alley date). I went into the bathroom and waiting there was my mom with make-up and three dresses to choose from. Afterwards, my mom took me to a special boba place (this is the location where Jerrick apologized for being too overwhelming – ha!). My dad was there, and we had a good time drinking boba and chatting for a bit.
After that, my dad took me on the ferry in Newport Beach (again, this is where Jerrick and I went to on their first date). At the end of the ride was my brother Robert. He took me on the Ferris Wheel (from our first date). By the way, it was also is where Robert and his wife Sarai went on their first date! After we got off the ride, I turned around and saw all my siblings walking my way! So, we walked to the pier and met up with my whole family and we got to talk about me getting married.
Finally, Robert was driving me to our next destination. We were early so he was stalling. I had no idea where we were going until we turned the corner and I saw the Hilton Waterfront (the venue where we first met) AND I started crying. I was so happy! From there I saw Brandi and she walked me up the stairs. As I was walking, I saw a table arrangement of flowers, photos and decor. Moses Linn was playing guitar in the background. I then turned around and I saw the love of my life walking towards me, he looked so handsome and his tie was matching my dress (which by the way was totally unplanned). He told me how excited he is to live life together and to start a family one day. He got down on one knee and said, “Josephine Annabelle Moreau, will you marry me?” By the way, Jerrick started crying right before I came out to the table.
We went to Mastro’s for dinner that night since it’s also where we went for dinner on our first official date. Afterwards, there was an after party at Tony’s house, with dessert, cake, a photobooth, friends and family. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day. To say yes to most incredible man for me.
What is one piece of advice you have for couples just beginning the wedding planning process? And what have you enjoyed most about planning your wedding?
Remember that you are both under stress, have patience with one another. Enjoy the process of planning your wedding, the process is longer than the wedding day and I really enjoyed our boba tasting.
