Orange County Professional Photographer
As an Orange County Professional Photographer, I simply love what I do. I get to shoot photography at some of the best locations in Southern California and of so many amazing people. Whether I’m photographing an engagement session, a wedding, or various stages of family life, or any combination of those, each one of them are truly great to work with. As much as we love seeing their smiles, I think it’s hearing their stories that makes it more special. And this was definitely the case with Chris and Kate. An amazing couple that we had the honor of photographing their wedding at Kate’s family home here in Orange County.
Kate looked beautiful as she was dressed in a white lace gown from David’s Bridal and white tennis shoes with the word, Bride, on the side, while her bridesmaids wore pink dresses. Chris and his groomsmen went traditional wearing Scottish Kilts from Kilt Rental USA, along with pink ties to match the ladies. The food at the reception hit the spot as dinner was catered by Maria’s Italian Kitchen and cake by SusieCakes.
All of the details of this homestyle wedding was captured by the team at Three16 Photography.
We would really like to thank Kate and Chris for allowing us to be part of your special day. We wish you many years of love and happiness.
Just to think, from a chance meeting soon after high school at a Boy Scout Camp in Lake Arrowhead to a marriage proposal in Hawaii to a date with destiny on September 5th of 2020, Kate and Chris’ hasn’t just come full circle, their story is just beginning.
Check out their love story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.
Katie and Chris’ Love Story
How did you both meet and who liked who first?
We met as Summer Camp counselors at Forest Lawn Boy Scout Camp in Lake Arrowhead, CA, just after graduating high school. It was Kate’s first job while Chris had been working there a couple years. Chris liked Kate first, he was so nervous talking to her the first time they met.
Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?
We went to the Getty Villa and the Griffith Observatory all in one day! We went to a lecture at the Observatory and actually ran in to Jennifer, a second mom to Kate, who will also be marrying us on our big day! Chris was more nervous; he was not the best driver on the busy LA freeways. 😀
What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?
Chris officially proposed while we were on vacation in Hawaii at dinner with Kate’s parents. It took Chris a while to work up the courage to ask Kate’s dad for his permission. But off the record, Chris can’t keep a secret and Kate first got wind of the proposal when Chris’ family was visiting their apartment in San Jose when he showed her the ring and she hyperventilated on the floor for a good 10 minutes. No crying, Kate is not a crier but on the wedding day she probably will be
As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
The joy of seeing family members during this crazy time, but mostly the sweet, sweet honeymoon time away from work and our house (we normally travel every couple of months and haven’t at all because of the pandemic).
What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
Planning during a pandemic, changing plans from a big wedding and downsizing
Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
Kate’s parent’s house is also where we live. It’s a beautiful property and is perfect the perfect location to celebrate our small wedding at.
Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?
Lots of Pinterest boards for “rustic weddings,” worn wood, natural landscapes with plenty of trees since we have a soft spot for Santa Cruz since living there and hating that we left.
Where are you going for the honeymoon and why did you choose that destination?
We’re going to check out Portland, OR! We both have never been, but love the PNW and we can drive to Bend, Tillamook, Salem – which are all places we are interested in living in 🙂
