As Orange County Professional Photographers, we just adore the couples we meet, whether it’s to photograph their engagement session, their wedding, various stages of their family life or any combination of those, each one of them are truly great to work with. But perhaps our favorite part is to hear their amazing love stories. How they met, fell in love, the proposal and ultimately, the wedding. This is especially true for Jessica and James. A truly wonderful couple that we had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at the Red Horse Barn here in Orange County.
Located in the heart of Huntington Beach, the Red Horse Barn in a beautiful rustic hidden treasure. With a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and reception space, it’s the perfect place to say I do. Which is why James and Jessica chose the Red Horse Barn as their wedding venue! They fell in love with everything about the venue; the look of the lush nature that set the backdrop, the ambiance, and the location being centrally located for their guests.
At their perfectly sunlit wedding day on a late July afternoon, these two had a gorgeous celebration of their love! With all of their closest friends and family there to support, these two tied the knot! Jessica was dressed in an elegant sweetheart trumpet gown and James was decked out in a navy suit. Both of them looked absolutely picture perfect, and Three16 Photography had the pleasure of capturing their love story for lasting memories for years to come.

Jessica and James’ Love Story
How did you both meet and who liked who first?
We met through friends. James went with friends to visit Jessica and Lauren (MOH) in college in San Diego. It was pretty mutual.
Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?
It was just a casual dinner with friends. Jessica was probably more nervous!
What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?
James surprised Jessica on the first night of a cruise to Mexico. James rushed out of the room while Jessica was getting ready to go have appetizers in her parents’ room before dinner as we were sailing away from San Pedro. Jessica found James on her parent’s balcony on one knee. Jessica was shocked and cried right away. (James might have cried a little too)
As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
Reflecting on our relationship over the years.
What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
The guest list! And the time crunch.
Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
We fell in love with the way it looks, the nature around, the ambiance, the location being centrally located for our guests and the amenities/staff.
Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?
Combining both of our tastes. We are aiming for a beautiful celebration of our marriage but did not want to be too “over-the-top” or excessive.
Where are you going for the honeymoon and why did you choose that destination?
Nothing planned yet… we will probably wait until James graduates from school (hopefully the end of this year) and are thinking of maybe going to Maui. We love Hawaii but have never been to Maui. We are very excited!!
