Opening in 1979, the Geffen is the only museum in LA that was founded by artists only so that the museum has the view of the artists themselves and not outsiders. To the north and we can find many of the local and federal government buildings and police forces. And to the west is The Last Bookstore, the Bradbury Building and next door to the Japanese American National Museum of Los Angeles, among many other great places to see or do.

The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is open to the public for a small fee, but keep in mind they are closed on Tuesdays and are only open from 11am until early evening.
