Midhun and Sheila’s The Waterfront Beach Resort Wedding was an absolutely beautiful celebration of their love with all of their closest friends and family! It was an honor for our Three16 Photography team to capture this gorgeous Huntington Beach wedding.
Sheila definitely stole the show as the glowing bride! A sweetheart lace gown with a long train from Blush Bridal Couture was her dress of choice, and boy was it perfect! With hair and makeup by Pin and Blend Hair and Makeup Services, this blushing bride was ready for the aisle. The finishing touch to her bridal look was an expertly crafted colorful orange and white bouquet from Naushina Iqbal.
As Midhun awaited his bride, his groomsmen helped to make sure he was looking absolutely perfect. Dressed in a navy blue tux from Friar Tux, he was all set for the first look! Sheila arrived in a stunning navy and gold velvet Lehenga, with dazzling gold accessories. Their first look was filled with a few tears and plenty of laughter, and it truly showed the love these two have for each other and how excited they were to be getting married.
After the first look, it was time for these two love birds to say I do! The ceremony was held at St Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, which has stunning architecture and plenty of sunlight for beautiful indoor ceremony photos. Sheila’s bride tribe stood by her side in traditional pink, navy, and gold, while the groomsmen were dressed in gray suits to match the groom. Once these two had officially tied the knot, it was party time!
The Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach has a spacious ballroom that was decorated with elegant draping navy, gold, and pink fabric to create a glamorous backdrop for Sheila and Midhun’s celebration. Once the Sweet Trader’s cake was cut, Special Occasions DJ and Lighting services had everyone on the dance floor. Robles Video also did an excellent job capturing the newlywed’s love story on film! The newlyweds and their closest friends and family all gathered on the dance floor for some AMAZING dancing! It was such a blast for our whole team getting to be a part of it all.
With a gorgeous couple, a gorgeous venue, a wedding coordinator that kept everything running smoothly (Parson’s Events), and an awesome team of vendors, it was so easy and so fun to photograph this wedding! Thank you so much, Sheila and Midhun for entrusting us with photographing your wedding day at The Waterfront Beach Resort. We wish you all the best and we can’t wait to see all the adventures that are ahead for you two!
Midhun and Sheila’s Love Story:
1) How did you both meet? Who liked who first?
We met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. Midhun liked Sheila first but we both fell very quickly for each other and there was no turning back.
2) Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous? What did you guys do?
Our first date was dinner at BCD Tofu House in Irvine, CA. We were both slightly nervous. We ate dinner and then took a walk around the block and went to H-Mart to go look at groceries (because we were being awkward but wanted to extend the date somehow). Then we walked over to Tokyo Table to have some sake and snacks (which we should have done in the first place).
3) What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details! Who cried first?
On January 21, 2018, Midhun took Sheila to Temecula, CA- the Southern California wine country- for a sunrise hot air balloon ride. They spent the lovely, chilly morning enjoying the view of mountain tops of fields from thousands of feet up. They saw a beautiful, snowy white owl flying through the orange groves; that must have been good luck, right? Sheila spent the day expecting a proposal. Midhun didn’t propose that day. Sheila was miffed.
Midhun had other plans. “A friend of mine had these sailing tickets that he can’t use anymore. Let’s go!” he said. Sheila bought it. Midhun recruited Sheila’s sisters, Anjali and Serena, and his sister, Mintu, to create a proposal to remember.
On January 27, 2018, after an ocean-side brunch in Newport Beach, Midhun and Sheila spent the evening on a sunset sailing cruise on an old-fashioned schooner, completing the sunrise from the previous trip. Meanwhile, the sisters claimed a section of the beach, and lit and decorated it with balloons that spelled out: “Marry Me?”. After Sheila and Midhun returned to land, he led her to the beach where lights and music awaited them. Sheila saw the balloons from afar & yelled: “Wait, is that an M? OMG, YES!”. Midhun remained patient. He led her to the balloons, knelt down on the sand, and asked his question, “Will you marry me?” Neither of us cried though.
4) As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
Shopping for clothes and going food/cake tasting.
5) What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
Everything else.
6) Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
Because it was by the ocean, and we could provide our guests a true California experience. Beautiful views during cocktail hour and an even nicer hotel venue.
7) Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?
We always wanted it to be glamorous, with a California essence. Lots of Instagram and Pinterest inspiration.
8) Where are you going for your honeymoon? Are you excited? Why did you choose that destination?
Cancun, Mexico. We chose it because we wanted something very relaxing and tranquil – to recover from all the wedding craziness!
