Calamigos Ranch Wedding | Matt & Tiffany
Los Angeles Professional Photographer
As a Professional Photographer here in Los Angeles, I just adore the couples we meet, whether it’s to photograph their engagement session, their wedding, various stages of their family life or any combination of those, each one of them are truly great to work with. But perhaps our favorite part is to hear their stories. This is especially true for Tiffany and Matt. A truly wonderful couple that we had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at Calamigos Ranch here in Los Angeles County.
Located in Malibu, California, Calamigos Ranch is along the coast of Los Angeles and is simply an awesome venue for weddings and receptions. This beautiful venue offers several location options for your wedding ceremony. Tiffany and Matt chose the Birchwood Room. The Birchwood Room holds up to 140 guests and features beautiful weeping willow trees that are 100 years old. You’ll also find a natural waterfall and an eye-catching green meadow. We can see why they chose this location… stunning!
Tiffany and Matt’s wedding adventure all started the night of their proposal. On a romantic hike through the Malibu mountains, they had finally reached the top of the hike, where Matt was planning to pop the question. What was meant to be a nice clear view of the ocean, turned out to be a nice cloudy view of the fog. Nevertheless, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. She said, “yes!” They climbed down and headed toward the beach where Matt had set up an oceanside canopy picnic. They spent a nice relaxing afternoon on the beach where Matt continued to surprise her with more gifts, including a card and a song he wrote just for her! Isn’t it every girl’s dream to have a song written for them?! Swoon!
Fast forward to the wedding day, and the weather isn’t necessarily what they planned for… again. But despite the cold and rainy weather, Matt and Tiffany were all smiles on the happiest day of their lives! This rainy-day Malibu celebration at Calamigos Ranch was definitely one for the books! Everything about this rustic chic wedding was perfect and the rain made it even more beautiful. The photo and video team from Three16 Photography utilized the weather to capture some stunning shots that this couple will cherish for a lifetime!
Tiffany wore a stunning chic lace chiffon gown from Anthropologie’s wedding line, BHLDN. Her hair and makeup were on point with the perfectly curled updo to accentuate her gorgeous dress. As she was escorted down the stone pathway aisle, she carried a blooming bouquet of white, blush, and lavender colored florals. Her wonderful groom awaited her in a navy suit with blush accents, alongside his groomsmen wearing gray and pink, and the bridesmaids dressed in mismatched mint gowns.
The intimate ceremony included the couple washing each other’s feet as a symbol of their devotion and willingness to serve one another. After this, their vows were sealed with a kiss!
With a rockstar team of vendors, a gorgeous venue and an amazing couple, this wedding was an unforgettable celebration of genuine love!
We would really like to thank Tiffany and Matt for allowing Three16 Photography to be part of your special day. We wish you many years of love and happiness.
Check out their love story. We hope you enjoy it, and their photos, as much as we do.
Tiffany and Matt’s Love Story
How did you both meet and who liked who first?
We both met at church. The church had just opened, and we started going there around the same time. Matt definitely liked Tiff first.
Tell us about your first date. Who was more nervous and what did you guys do?
Matt took Tiff to go see a movie called, “Sweeney Todd,” which she had no idea was a horror-ish movie. Matt was pretty nervous, but Tiff doesn’t remember.
What’s the proposal story? Give us all the details and tell us, who cried first?
Matt planned with his family and best friends to set up a surprise for Tiff. First, Matt took Tiff on a hike in Malibu (where we have hiked several times before). At the top of the hike with a nice view of the fog (which was meant to be a nice CLEAR view of the ocean) Matt got down on one knee and proposed. She said, “yes!” We climbed down and headed toward the beach where the surprise was set up: a canopy picnic on the beach. They spent a nice relaxing afternoon on the beach where Matt continued to surprise Tiff with more gifts, namely a card and a song he wrote for her. Then they had dinner reservations nearby and enjoyed a lovely meal overlooking the ocean sunset.
As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
Seeing all the work come together (i.e. lots of handmade, D.I.Y. stuff).
What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
The cost! Also doing a lot of things ourselves.
Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
We wanted an outdoor wedding and we also share special memories in Malibu.
Where did you draw some of your inspiration from for your wedding day?
The Malibu scene, as well as springtime.
Where are you going for the honeymoon and why did you choose that destination?
Hawaii. We are definitely excited as we wanted a tropical getaway.
