As a Los Angeles Professional Photographer, I just adore the couples we meet, whether it’s to photograph their engagement session, their wedding, various stages of their family life or any combination of those, each one of them is truly great to work with. But perhaps our favorite part is to hear their stories. This is especially true for Ben and Danielle. A truly wonderful couple that we had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at the Glen Arden Social Club.

Located in Glendale, the Glen Arden Club may just be the greatest secret in a town full of unique locations to visit. The club’s ambiance gives you a sense of that old Hollywood atmosphere. It’s no wonder why Danielle and Ben chose this wedding venue.

Their wedding was truly beautiful. Danielle looked radiant in her Stella York designed wedding gown from Lovella Bridal, while her hair by Amica Hair Studio and makeup by Golden Glow Beauty were absolutely on point. Meanwhile, Danielle’s groom, Ben, looked dapper in his black tuxedo from the gang at Friar Tux. The groomsmen wore black suits and the bridesmaids and bridesmen wore a mix of lighter shades of contemporary colors. Despite the different shades of color, this group really pulled it off and looked fantastic.

The ceremony and reception were beautifully decorated by the floral arrangements designed by the House of Magnolias. At the reception, the cake by Vanilla Bake Shop was to die for! And the party didn’t stop there. Oh no. DJ Richard Umali and the Lucky Devils Band kept the party hopping all evening long. What a celebration it was!

Danielle and Ben’s Love Story

What three things do you admire most about your soon-to-be spouse and why?

Danielle: I admire Ben’s humor because he continuously knows how to keep me smiling despite how hard a time in our lives is. I admire Ben’s positivity because he always knows how to turn an attitude around to be positive and a learning experience. I admire Ben’s patience because he teaches me how to be a better person with not only others but patience with myself.

Ben: Danielle has a strong-willed personality, and she is very passionate and determined to accomplish the things she loves in life. She has an outstanding work ethic and knows how to plan and make things happen effectively. I also admire her ability to get along with anyone, and that she is always showing love and kindness to those around her.

Describe each other in one word and tell us, why did you choose that word?

Danielle: I can describe Ben as “supportive” because he really knows how to support what I stand for, what I believe in, what I’m working towards, etc. He really shows me, love, by showing me and providing support in a way that inspires me to not only be a better person but to grow as a partner in his life. His ability to support me.

Ben: Dedicated. When Danielle sets her mind to something, she is an unstoppable force of positivity and focus. I love that she is so passionate about her goals in life because it is inspiring.

Any advice for other newly engaged couples as they begin to plan their wedding?

Danielle: My best advice is to never forget the reason you are planning a wedding in the first place and to be united with your partner for the rest of your life. It’s easy to get caught up in the wedding planning and the stresses of family but remember that you two are going to be together forever. There’s nothing better and no amount of stress or unexpected planning mishaps should ever break that bond.

Ben: You’re marrying your best friend. Never forget that a wedding is one day, but marriage is for life.

Describe your wedding for us. Is there a particular theme? What flowers did you choose and why? Any special traditions or items you have incorporated into the day?

Danielle: Our wedding is very traditional but very simple. We have small hidden Mickey-type decors around the venue. The flowers we love and chose is the Magnolia. We love the color white for flowers, and it is such a beautiful flower. In the ceremony itself, we are traditional Catholics, so we incorporated having a veil, lasso, the arras (coins), and the unity candle. We picked very important people who would support us through our married life together to bring these items up to our altar during the ceremony.

Looking back on planning your wedding, is there anything you would have done differently?

The only thing we would’ve done differently is to figure out what we originally wanted to have there and stick with it versus changing ideas from Pinterest inspirations. The more we looked, the more we wanted to change or add things. This made our ideas/themes get muddled and we had to sit down and decide what we wanted to keep and wanted to toss in our “unimportant bucket.”

What’s the plans for the honeymoon?

We are SO excited for the honeymoon because despite being together for 10 years, we have never traveled on a plane together. Our deal in planning for our honeymoon was to pick a place that neither one of us have been to. We have decided to head to Italy and spend about two weeks adventuring across the country. We have tours, cooking classes, relaxing activities, and visits to various museums planned on our list.
