Your outfit should reflect you personality.  Maybe you want to dress for an adventure or maybe you want to go formal.  Consider how your attire can fit with your session location.

Some locations can be super crowded.  While a session at the beach, a popular park or Disneyland can be great, it may not be ideal for you.

Do you love nature?  Did you go to a fair on your first date?  While a beautiful garden might be fun for some, maybe it isn't the perfect location for you.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION LOCATION:

HARBOR POINT CONSERVATION PARK

If you are looking to have an engagement photo session done that brings together nature and the beach but not the traditional sand between the toe’s photos, then Harbor Point Conversation Park might be right up your alley. Engagement photography at the Harbor Point Conservation Park in Dana Point by Three16 Photography will provide you amazing photos for years to come.

Located between Doheny State Beach and The Ritz-Carlton, Harbor Point Conservation Park is based at the top of the shore area which gives you amazing views of the ocean and beaches down below that will accentuate your engagement photography. A short trail will lead us down to the sand area. Once we are down on the beach itself, there is an area of sand, but the true stars of this location are the cliff and a small area behind the Ocean Institute where the huge rock formations run along the sands. Not only do the rocks at this location bring a lot of texture to your photos, but in a way, they are nature’s props for us to use.

Whether we are at the top or at the bottom beach area, there is so much natural beauty at Harbor Point that you have to experience it to truly appreciate it, as it often gets overlooked by its neighbor to the south, Doheny.

If time permits and you want something a little more than just the natural aspect in your photos, the marina is near the institute and having the boats in your shots are a favorite aspect of many of our beach sessions.

The only drawback to this location is we need to plan around the high tides. Having your photos taken within the rocks while the tide is high can create quite the challenge, so it is not recommended during those times.

So, if you are looking for engagement photos at a location that offers both a trail of nature and the beach and is a little different than your typical beach photography that you would get at Huntington or Newport Beaches, then consider this location.
