Heritage Museum Engagement Photography Session | Torey & Jorge
Orange County Wedding Photographer

Living in Orange County, California, I absolutely love going to Disneyland with my girlfriend Josie. I bought her a pass to Disney, and we love going there for date days and date nights on my days off. As an Engagement Photographer in Orange County, we also hear all sorts of love stories about how couples meet! Whether it be online, blind dates, going to the same high school, work, or something else, we love getting to hear how love first begins to bloom! So when I first heard Jorge and Torey’s love story, I was excited to hear that it all started at the happiest place on earth- one of my favorite spots in Orange County!

Not only did their love story start at Disney, but Jorge’s epic proposal happened at the park as well! Read on to hear the details of their first encounter, their amazing love story, and see their Heritage Museum Engagement photos!

We had the awesome opportunity to capture Torey and Jorge’s Heritage Museum engagement photography session in Santa Ana – just a few minutes away from our office! We went just before sunset- during Golden Hour, so we ended up with some beautifully lit photos! These two were so much fun to capture, and we can’t wait to photograph their wedding next Spring at the Planes of Fame Air Museum.

We hope you enjoy their photos from their Heritage Museum Engagement session, and their love story!

How & when did you first meet? Describe your thoughts / how you felt about each other. Was it love at first sight?

In 2014, we both decided that we wanted to work at Disneyland. Not knowing that decision was going to change both of our lives forever. Groom: I still remember the first time I saw Torey. I had been working at Disneyland for a week, and everyone just looked like a blur. There was too many people, too many names to remember and too many steps to take to close down the register. As usual I was having some issues when I looked over at my neighbor, whom I believed was a seasoned employee, Torey, and asked for help (not knowing she had been hired at the same time as me). I remember Torey coming over, teaching me, and giving me some advice on how to remember the steps to close the register. Its safe to say, I was more concerned in balancing than making a great first impression. However, something about her made me want to ask her name and her smile made me remember it.

What do you both do for work?

Torey is an 8th grade science teacher. Not only does Torey teach science but she is the ASB advisor. Her kids are grateful to have a teacher who believes in them, and gives them the tools to become model citizens. Jorge is an HR Representative for a BBQ grill company. Torey’s and Jorge’s life long passion is to change the world one person at a time; by giving them tools, and opportunities to make our communities better.

GROOM: What was it that made you first start liking your bride to be?

Her energy and soul. Torey has this amazing energy that makes me go out of my comfort zone. She takes my hand into new adventures and lets me know she will be there. Her energy, personality and soul is what made me fall in love and continues to make me fall in love with her all over again.

BRIDE: What was it that made you first start liking your groom to be?

His smile and how easy he is to talk to. As soon as we started talking it felt like we had been friends forever and we’re always laughing and having fun. I just liked when he smiled, it’s so cute and charming. It brought me in and I stuck.

Tell us about your first date. What was going through your mind? Where did you go, what did you do?

Our first date was a total accident! Working together at Disneyland, our department had a scavenger hunt that we could go do in the park. We made plans with a big group of mutual friends and we had only met once before. Well, everyone else ended up having to cancel because of school or shifts and we ended up being the only two to go. We decided to go do the scavenger hunt anyways. We were both hesitant since we didn’t know each other but were trying to meet new people and get out of our comfort zones so figured why not. While doing the scavenger hunt we got to know each other and having fun together. Torey convinced Jorge to get his face painted with a free skull and Jorge bought Torey lunch. And the rest is history.

What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together.

It’s just impossible to list all the ways that make our relationship special and unique, from our heart felt midnight conversations, Netflix binging, Disney dates to weekend travel dates, how we first met, our first date, our engagement, and the list goes on. Our time together over last five years has revealed to us that our priority is each ones success. Torey supported Jorge while he completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees by spending every Friday and Saturdays at the Library. As Torey became Jorge’s pillars of support and love, he returned the love by supporting Torey in everything she did and every school event she planned.

Tell us about your proposal story! How / where did it all unfold? Who cried first? Were you surprised?

Groom:
We had been discussing the possibility of a future together and as May was getting closer, she grew more suspicious of a surprise proposal. With the help of Torey’s best friend, Jazmin, I was able to convince Torey that; I was planning a romantic weekend in San Diego where “something special might happen” and that she should plan a last summer get together with all of our friends at Disneyland. As expected, Torey, invited some of her closest friends and family to Disneyland. Unbeknownst to Torey, I was planning a proposal at the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. I had snuck in small rollup posters with “Will You Marry Me?” and passed them to our friends. At the right time, they were instructed to open up the posters so that the camera could catch the perfect picture. Once we got off the attraction, Torey searched for the picture and tears started to roll down her cheeks. She looked around and ultimately found me on one knee and asking her to spend the rest of her life with me. Infront of a small crowd of onlookers, she said the most wonderful words I could ever hear. “Yes, I will.” Torey had no idea how it had happened or how I made it possible but I pulled it off!

What is one piece of advice you have for couples just beginning the wedding planning process? What have you enjoyed most about planning your wedding?

Plan ahead. Be considerate of your partners wishes and what is important to him or her. Most importantly it should be a joint effort and no one should plan their wedding alone.
