I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again, one of the greatest things about doing photography in Orange County is some of the wonderful people I get to meet. Recently I had the joyful (and hilarious) opportunity to photograph the Kenney family at Irvine Regional Park. Kathi had reached out to me and had explained that her children and grandchildren would all be in town for a short visit during which she’d love to do a family session. I was more than happy to put something together for them and nonetheless, the afternoon was filled with smiles and a tone of laughter!
The reason we love this park is that it has the typical green grass that you would expect to see in a park, but it also features many trees, which gives it a forest-like scenery. These particular types of natural surroundings are great to photograph, and they tend to look really good in pictures.
The best time to shoot at this park is during the Winter and Springtime as the forest area is more like an open field with tall grass and trees. The grass tends to be greener than usual. If we are shooting in the Summer and Fall times of the year, the colors tend to be more Fall-like with the brown and orange colors. We don’t know why this is, but Irvine Regional Park tends to get more of the Fall colors than some of the other local park locations.
