Country boy meets California girl. Drives a rental car and sweeps her off her feet. Okay maybe that’s not quite how it happened but these two certainly have a great story and our Orange County Wedding Photography team was so glad that we got to be a part of their beautiful Red Horse Barn wedding in Huntington Beach. Jared and Shelby met about 6 years ago now while Shelby was working at an auto center in Newport Beach and one of those wildly handsome enterprise guys caught her attention. Ever since I think it’s safe to say Jared has been on her mind. It’s always a joy to have our team photograph a beautiful Red Horse Barn wedding. This venue is truly the best of both worlds which is why Jared and Shelby chose the Red Horse Barn for their wedding venue. Jared grew up in Iowa surrounded by farms and Shelby grew up in Orange County by the beach. As an Orange County Wedding Photographer, I can attest to the fact that there a very few places quite like the Red Horse Barn in Orange County that offers a beautiful country look, incredible horses, and a nice ocean breeze. It’s absolutely perfect and it was an incredible fit for these two. The day was full of so many beautiful moments from getting ready, to the first look, to Jared fighting back those tears as Shelby walked down the aisle. Truly it was such a beautiful wedding and our team is truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a sweet, caring, and friendly couple!

I had the chance to ask Shelby & Jared a little more about their Red Horse Barn wedding day and I thought I’d share that with you.

1) As you approach the wedding day, what have you both enjoyed most about the wedding planning process?
We really enjoyed shopping around, meeting new people, and experiencing new things together. It was so much fun to go food and cake tasting when selecting our menu and cake for the wedding, as well as having our first professional photo shoot done with our photographer. One of the best things, of course, was finding my dress and sharing the experience with my mom and sisters. I can’t wait for Jared to see it!

2) What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding?
Finding time to do everything. From scheduling meetings with vendors to doing all the invitations to communicating wedding details with all the family, you definitely have to make time to get everything done. And all of the planning that has gone into the honeymoon. We have really enjoyed every part of the experience though.

3) Why did you choose your particular wedding and reception venue?
The Red Horse Barn was the perfect expression of who we are as a couple and what we bring to the relationship as individuals. It is simple and beautiful. Jared is from rural Iowa and his hometown is known for its rodeo, livestock, and farmland. I was born in raised in Huntington Beach. The venue blends palm trees and an ocean breeze with horses and a barn perfectly.

4) Where did you draw some of your inspiration for your wedding day?
As a teacher, I spend a lot of time lesson planning and getting ideas from Pinterest. It was only natural I get some of my inspiration from Pinterest. Jared and I have the same vision for our wedding and have been on the same page with a lot of our decisions.

) Where are you going for your honeymoon? Why did you choose that destination?
We are headed off to Europe shortly after the wedding. We are going from London to Paris to Florence and finally to Rome. We are so excited! We love to travel and are so happy to spend another summer exploring new places.
