Helpful Tips

There’s just something truly magical about shooting your engagement photos on the beach at sunset. The opalescent water, coupled with the warm glow of the setting sun, sets the perfect backdrop for gorgeous photos. One of our favorite beaches to photograph at is  Table Rock Beach in Laguna Beach. This was the perfect location for Isaiah and Erica’s sunset beach engagement shoot because of their history with Orange County beaches! You see, on their very first date, they ended the evening at Crystal Cove beach and explored the tide pools. Years later, Isaiah proposed at that very same beach! So it was very fitting for these two to have their engagement photos taken on the coast!

The love these two have for each other is so obvious, and we absolutely adored getting to spend some time with them and tell the story of their love in photos! We’re so excited about all the adventures ahead for Erica and Isaiah, and we can’t wait to capture their wedding at Mount Palomar Winery later this year!

We hope you enjoy this truly magical Table Rock Beach engagement session as much as we do! Just LOOK at those colors in that amazing sunset!

Q. How & when did you first meet? Describe your thoughts / how you felt about each other. Was it love at first sight?

A. Picture freshman year college orientation. We met during the summer of 2014 at Concordia University Irvine. It ended up that we were in a few of the same classes and became friends at 18. Little did we know that 2 years later we would start dating each other. Isaiah thought she had beautiful eyes and was easy to get to know while Erica was impressed by his confidence as he asked to sit with her and her family that same day at lunch.

Q. What do you both do for work?

A. Isaiah works in Anaheim for Power Plus as a payroll specialist. Erica works as a leasing consultant for an apartment community in Irvine.

Q. GROOM: What was it that made you first start liking your bride-to-be?

A. We took a trip with some friends to Las Vegas to visit our friend’s parents and on that road trip we were able to get to know each other on a deeper level – but still not out of the friend zone yet. We got our ears pierced together though in Caesar’s Palace!

Q. BRIDE: What was it that made you first start liking your groom to be?

A. Isaiah has baby nieces and nephews and seeing him interact with them was really sweet. Also, he is thoughtful and passionate about the outdoors.

Q. Tell us about your first date. What was going through your mind? Where did you go, what did you do?

A. Our first date took place at an indoor shooting range in Laguna Nigel. Afterwards, we went to the beach at Crystal Cove and walked around the tide pools. The funny thing is at the time we did not consider this a date, we just decided to hang out with each other during the summer of 2016. However, both of us were secretly excited to see where this relationship may take us.

Q. What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

A. We both have a passion to travel. Erica studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland for a semester in college and Isaiah went to visit for a week and we had the best adventure. The next country for us was Panama and we visited Isaiah’s sister and family who are missionaries near Panama City. Although we have explored many places apart, we can’t wait to show each other what we have seen and learned. New adventures is a must in our new life together.

Q. Tell us about your proposal story! How / where did it all unfold? Who cried first? Were you surprised?

A. Isaiah proposed on the beach at Crystal Cove on March 31, 2018. Erica had an idea that something was definitely going on but did not know when it would be taking place. Our families and friends were there to support us and even helped decorate the trellis with flowers. Isaiah created a booklet of photos for Erica to look through going over our journey so far and left blank pages for us to fill in as the years go by.

Q. What is one piece of advice you have for couples just beginning the wedding planning process? What have you enjoyed most about planning your wedding?

A. Give yourselves LOTS of time. We took over a year and a half to plan our wedding, but we were finishing up school at the time and now both have full-time jobs.

One of the things that we lost during the pandemic is togetherness.
