Love at First Sight – A Refreshing Southern California Autumn Celebration
We love, love, love couples that are so very much in-love with each other because their love really shines through in the photography we shoot. Whether it be at their engagement photo session or the wedding itself, you can’t replace love and true emotions. That’s one of the reasons why I enjoy being an Orange County Professional Photographer, because I get to capture those emotions on camera to be preserved for a lifetime. That’s why photographing Sandra and Gary’s Turnip Rose wedding was ideal for capturing pure love.
For Gary and Sandra, their wedding day had fall written all over it. They chose the color scheme of orange, silver, and gray colors. They felt that those colors were simply the perfect fit for their October wedding date, and it was! So, not only do you have the Orange from October and Halloween, but it just happens to be the dominant color of their favorite baseball team… the San Francisco Giants. Sandra and Gary absolutely love going to baseball games together, and it was an easy way to incorporate this fun part of their relationship into their wedding day! Their bright and unique color palette brought even more fun and joy to this already beautiful Southern California Autumn wedding celebration!
The Turnip Rose’s Promenade Event Centre and Gardens is a gorgeous and intimate wedding venue. It is a one of a kind event venue located in the heart of Costa Mesa. Right across the street from the event venue is a vineyard that’s perfect for shooting those gorgeous sunset photos! The outdoor ceremony site is a green, open park located in-between perfectly manicured towering trees, with a gazebo altar. The gazebo was decorated with elegant draping fabric and gorgeous floral arrangements that created a chic backdrop for the exchanging of vows. For two people that fell in love at first sight, this was the perfect venue for these two love birds. It was very evident throughout the day how genuine and deep their love for each other truly is.
At the outdoor ceremony, Gary attempted to stay collected while patiently waiting for his soon-to-be bride, who walked down the aisle in a flowing veil and mermaid sweetheart lace gown. Her hair was curled to perfection and tucked back with a delicate golden leaf hair piece, and she completed her look with diamond dangling earrings, a simple yet elegant necklace, and a dazzling bracelet. Sandra’s bride tribe stood by her side and were dressed in matching light blueish-gray Grecian gowns with a sparkling belt detail. Gary’s groomsmen followed the gray color palette and wore dark gray detailed suits with shining black shoes, white pocket squares, and orange ties. Gary matched, but switched it up a bit by wearing an orange bow tie instead.
The celebration continued indoors at the reception venue’s intimate ballroom. With a stone floor and floor to ceiling windows, this ballroom boasted a sophisticated ambiance for this couple and their guests to party throughout the evening!
Gary and Sandra’s Orange County fall wedding with a refreshing color theme was definitely one for the books!

Sandra and Gary’s Love Story
Q: What three things do you admire most about your soon-to-be spouse, and Why?
A: Patience – I know at times I can be a pain. Gary keeps me grounded and reminds me to not be that way.
Affectionate – We are never shy about kissing or holding hands in public. That is so important to us.
Jack of all Trades – It amazes me how much he knows about everything. Anything you give him he can do it and very well.
Q: Describe each other in one word and why did you choose that word?
A: Loving – We both have a tremendous love for each other. Words cannot describe. We can say that our love was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
Q: Any advice for other newly engaged couples as they begin to plan their wedding?
A: Keep an open mind. I think most couples think they can only spend a certain amount of money, so they begin to compromise quality. I would research all vendors thoroughly before making a decision.
Q: Describe your wedding for us. Was there any particular theme? What flowers did you choose and why? And were there any special traditions or items you have incorporated into the day?
A: Not really a special theme. We picked orange colored flowers because October is Halloween and Michael is a San Francisco Giants Fan. We’ll be having a Mariachi band play during the cocktail hour and dinner. This is very traditional in Mexican Weddings.
Q: Looking back on planning your wedding, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: I would have not procrastinated so much. I regret not starting to think about music choices and guest seating sooner. If you have help, take it! I would have also hired a wedding planner.
Q: What’s the plans for the honeymoon?
A: We are going to Fiji for seven days. We will be mainly on the beach, visiting a few islands and just relaxing. Oh, and can’t forget a spa day!
