Some locations can be super crowded. While a session at the beach, a popular park or Disneyland can be great, it may not be ideal for you.

Do you love nature? Did you go to a fair on your first date? While a beautiful garden might be fun for some, maybe it isn't the perfect location for you.

As seasons shift so does temperature, sunset times, foliage and crowds. Not all locations are a great choice year round.

Out of all the beaches that make up Laguna Beach, perhaps the one the city is most known for is also the one least visited, Victoria Beach. Although the city’s coastline is made up of 30 individual smaller beaches, this is the one that has the most unique features, which makes it a perfect location for your engagement photo session. Victoria Beach engagement photos in Laguna Beach shot by the team at Three16 Photography will leave you with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Victoria Beach sits on a long stretch of white sand that includes a little of everything including a volleyball court, swimming pool and some pretty amazing caves. But, perhaps the most unique part of Victoria Beach is the Pirate Tower. The tower is so unique, visitors endure the poor parking and long walk just to get a glimpse, and a selfie, of the tower. Unfortunately, we will not be able to enter the tower.
Pirate’s Tower is 60-feet tall and is located up against the cliff. Built back in 1926, it served as a gateway to and from former state senator William E. Brown’s home that was located atop of the cliff. It wasn’t until the 1940s, after it was sold to a retired Naval officer, did it become known as “Pirate Tower.” The retired officer, Harold Kendrick, often dressed as a pirate and he would hide coins near the tower for the local kids to find.
If this location is for you, earlier in the day works best because even though it is not as crowded as other beaches, later in the day does draw more people than in the earlier hours. Plus, if you want Pirate’s Tower up close in your shots, it is much easier to get to during low tides. By 5:00 pm, it becomes nearly impossible to get close up. Also, during low tide, there are so many rock formations that really make your photos standout.
Parking tends to be difficult, and we will most likely have to park on Coast Highway and walk a couple hundred feet to the stairwell and make our way down. Once on the beach, there is another long walk to get to the tower.
If time permits to include an additional location, there is so many areas we can consider. There are of course other beaches such as Treasure Island and Table Rock, but also Woods Cove, or go a little further to Heisler Park.
